Paul C. Cameron
Paul C. Cameron (1808–1891) lived at Burnside in Hillsborough and, from 1837 to 1856, at Fairntosh, managing the Cameron plantations; on the eve of the Civil War he and his siblings enslaved over one thousand people on plantations in Orange and other counties. A UNC trustee, he chaired its building committee and gave the money for the original Memorial Hall.
