Cadwallader Jones

Jones was the son of Cadwallader and Rebecca Jones of West Hill near Hillsborough. He graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1832, began practicing law in Hillsborough in 1836, served as a university trustee from 1840 to 1857, and left for South Carolina in 1857.

Two hundred items from Cadwallader Jones, born 1843, covering 1847 to 1925, half a linear foot in the Southern Historical Collection at UNC, collection 2487. Personal narratives and officers' correspondence from the Confederate army cover Charleston during the Civil War, North Carolina politics between 1861 and 1865, social conditions at Hillsborough and at Greensboro, Alabama, and sharecropping in the years afterward.
