Robert Ervin Coker (1876 to 1967) wrote this short 1951 typescript on the beginnings of laboratory work at the University of North Carolina, and the copy carries some handwritten notations. Topics include the teaching of science, laboratory rooms and equipment at Chapel Hill, and the university curriculum. No place of production is recorded. Part of UNC's North Carolina Collection.

Part of the Southern Historical Collection at UNC, collection 3380. Topics include marine biology and zoology teaching at the university, the United States Bureau of Fisheries, the state Board of Conservation and Development, the Chapel Hill School Board, family life in South Carolina, and the diaries of Sarah Witherspoon Ervin McIver.
