Alfred Stratton Lawrence

Alfred Stratton Lawrence was rector of the Chapel of the Cross in Chapel Hill from 1921 to 1943, after serving parishes that included Hillsborough, and helped found the Chapel Hill School of Religion. Born in Essex, England, he was a World War I chaplain.

Webb presided over a mass meeting at the court house where Edward Bond of Edenton, a soldier back from the Mexican border, and Rev. Alfred S.
