  1. A new consolidated school is built at Orange Grove The board let the Orange Grove contract to A. R. Davis for $13,600 and set the school about half a mile from the old one on the road to Hillsboro. Farmers pay to carry the rural power line on to Orange Grove Soon after the federally funded line from Chapel Hill to Calvander was built in 1933, a second line paid for by local farmers' donations carried power on from Calvander to Orange Grove.Search the index · NC Digital Collections: Historic Resources of Orange County, National Register multiple property documentation form (1993), p. 45
  3. Fire destroys Orange Grove School Fire destroyed Orange Grove School in December 1942. On December 6, 1943 the county board sought a $16,000 insurance settlement, and at the Orange Grove committee's request classes went on in the old Orange Grove building rather than moving to Hillsboro.Search the index · DigitalNC: The News of Orange County, December 7, 1944, p. 2

The county board closes Orange Grove School and sends its pupils to Hillsboro The board discontinued Orange Grove School and first planned to split its children between Hillsboro and White Cross. Efland and Orange Grove volunteer fire departments are incorporated As the Orange Rural Fire Department's board worked from 1971 to set up fire districts covering the whole county, rural communities formed their own departments: the Orange Grove Volunteer Fire Department in 1972 and the Efland Volunteer Fire Department on September 8, 1972. Orange Grove residents form the Cane Creek Conservation Authority Farm families around Cane Creek organized the Cane Creek Conservation Authority to stop the dam and elected 23-year-old dairy farmer Bobby Kirk president; the group had about 100 active members and said 12 dairy farms would be affected. It argued that the reservoir would end farming in the area, that owners had not been consulted, and that Jordan Lake and other sources were alternatives.
