Local figure

Alexander Julian

Alexander Julian grew up working in Julian's, the clothing store his father opened on Franklin Street in 1942, and in 1969 ran his own Franklin Street shop, Alexander's Ambition. After moving to New York in 1975 to build his fashion label, he designed UNC's argyle basketball uniforms for the 1991–1992 season and, from 2011, its graduation gowns.
