Isaac Edwards

Isaac Edwards was private secretary and aide-de-camp to Governor William Tryon. He qualified as an attorney at Hillsborough in 1766, and from 1768 bought lots on West Tryon Street, where he built a small house and a law office. In the spring of 1768 he carried Tryon's proclamation to Hillsborough and read it to the Regulators. He sold his house and lots to Francis Nash in 1771 and 1772.

William Butler, James Hunter, Edmund Fanning and Isaac Edwards are among the men named, and the papers turn on taxes, grievances, oaths and petitions. Orange County was the center of the rising.
