James Moeser became the ninth chancellor at Chapel Hill on August 15, 2000 and served until June 30, 2008, years of the Carolina First campaign, which raised 2.38 billion dollars, and the Carolina Covenant for low-income students. He then returned to the university as chancellor emeritus and professor of music.
