Charles E. Daye

Charles E. Daye joined the UNC School of Law faculty in 1972 as its first African American tenure-track professor and advised its Black Law Students Association from 1972 until he retired in 2014. Born in Durham in 1944, he was dean of North Carolina Central University's law school from 1981 to 1985 and was named Henry P. Brandis Distinguished Professor of Law in 1991.
