Hortense McClinton
McClinton became the first Black professor at UNC-Chapel Hill when the School of Social Work hired her in 1966, and she taught there until she retired in 1984. In December 2021 the university renamed the former Aycock Residence Hall as Hortense McClinton Residence Hall.
