Supporting local figure
William Bingham (1835–1873), son of William James Bingham, was running his father's school at the Oaks by 1864, incorporated it that year as the Bingham School, a military and classical academy, and in December moved it to Mebaneville, on a site in Orange County. After his death in 1873 his brother Robert took over.
