      Deed transcripts for the town lots of Chapel Hill and adjoining land from 1790 to the 1930s, compiled by Stewart E. Dunaway. Each transcript keeps only the working facts: grantor and grantee, price, acreage and the metes and bounds of the parcel. Self-published in 2014 as Issue 1G, 702 pages with maps and facsimiles.

    In the chronology

    1. Cornelia Spencer Love serves as a founding trustee of the Chapel Hill Public Library Love was a trustee of the public library from its start in 1958 until 1970 and secretary of its board of directors. The library began in a small house in downtown Chapel Hill.
    2. Chapel Hill Public Library opens Chapel Hill's first public library held its formal opening on December 15, 1958 in the east wing of the Hill House on West Franklin Street, with about 4,500 books, 2,000 of them lent by state and regional libraries. It moved to its own building at 523 East Franklin Street in 1967 and to Pritchard Park in 1994.
    3. Chapel Hill Public Library shows Bayard Wootten photographs after her death Weeks after Bayard Wootten died in New Bern, the Chapel Hill Public Library displayed her 1930s photographs of western North Carolina, made to illustrate two UNC Press books, Backwoods America and Cabins in the Laurel.
    4. Cornelia Spencer Love gives private funds toward a new library on East Franklin Street Love donated private money during the 1960s to help build the town's new public library on East Franklin Street.
    5. Don Stewart designs the Chapel Hill Public Library building on East Franklin Street Around 1965 library committee head Mrs. Richmond P. Bond asked Stewart about a traditional design; he said he was not a traditional architect and suggested Durham's William Van Sprinkle, but the committee kept Stewart and his modern plan. The 1966 building uses sloping native stone walls and stained wood to fit among the older faculty houses on East Franklin Street.
    6. The new Chapel Hill Public Library opens at East Franklin and Boundary streets The library left its rooms in the Hill House for a new building on the northwest corner of East Franklin and Boundary. When the library moved again in the 1990s, the building became home to the town museum.
    7. The Love Trust is established for the Chapel Hill Public Library A $350,000 estate gift from Cornelia Spencer Love created the Love Trust in 1982. The library foundation has managed it since 1999 and it has given the library more than $2.3 million.
    8. Chapel Hill Museum is organized in the former town library In 1995 a museum study committee proposed a town museum for the former public library at 523 East Franklin Street, and in November the town council agreed to negotiate a rent-free lease with Chapel Hill Museum Inc. The nonprofit museum opened its first exhibit to the public in February 1998.
    9. Drive-through food distribution at Chapel Hill Public Library serves 576 households PORCH, the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina and the Town of Chapel Hill ran a drive-through food distribution in the Chapel Hill Public Library's lower parking lot, serving 576 households, or 2,391 people, with about 40 volunteers.
    10. Chapel Hill Public Library webinar marks the 51st anniversary of the Cates killing The Chapel Hill Public Library hosted a webinar in which family and friends, including state Senator Valerie Foushee, a first cousin of Cates, reflected on his life and on the failures that followed his death.
