Roy Williams, a 1972 UNC graduate, spent ten seasons in Chapel Hill as an assistant to Dean Smith and coached Kansas from 1988 to 2003 before returning as UNC's head men's basketball coach in 2003. His Tar Heel teams won NCAA championships in 2005, 2009 and 2017, and he retired on April 1, 2021.

Roy Williams's memoir of a coaching career that ran from Kansas to the Tar Heels, written with the 2009 national title fresh and reaching back to a hard childhood. Published by Algonquin Books of Chapel Hill in 2009 with a foreword by John Grisham; this edition adds an afterword and new photographs. 286 pages with sixteen pages of plates, illustrations and portraits.
