Supporting local figure
Born in Hillsborough in 1919, Wallace earned her MA and PhD at the university in Chapel Hill and followed a nearly forty-year career as an archivist and teacher of archives, becoming director of the Southern Historical Collection and curator of manuscripts. She lived at Carol Woods in Chapel Hill for over 33 years and was the last of its founding members.
