James Welch Patton

James Welch Patton directed the Southern Historical Collection at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill from 1948, succeeding J. G. de Roulhac Hamilton, and taught North Carolina history in the university's history department until 1973. His funeral was held at the Chapel of the Cross and he is buried in Chapel Hill.
