Family papers of the Coles and Taylors, 1707 to 1914, about 2,000 items in three linear feet in the Southern Historical Collection at UNC, collection 163. Diaries and weather observations made at Chapel Hill sit alongside material on merchants in nineteenth century North Carolina, plantation management in Tennessee, and real property. Subjects include James C. Cole, Mary Catharine Cole, Harriot G. Cole, Sarah A. Cole Taylor and James Cole Taylor.
