Louis D. Rubin Jr.
While a University of North Carolina English professor, Rubin formed Bright Leaf Press with Shannon Ravenel in 1982, starting in a garage at his home, and the firm grew into Algonquin Books of Chapel Hill, first publisher of Clyde Edgerton, Dori Sanders and Jill McCorkle. In 1990 he turned control over to his son Robert and to Ravenel.
