Zora Rashkis taught English at Phillips and Culbreth middle schools in Chapel Hill and started the weekly "Meet the Teacher" Cablevision program, which she hosted for 22 years. In 2003 the school board named its newest school Mel and Zora Rashkis Elementary for the couple's work with the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools since 1962.
