Howell, A. C. (Almonte Charles), 1895-1986 · 1945
Almonte Charles Howell (1895 to 1986) taught in the Department of English at Chapel Hill and served as Secretary of the Faculty. His papers, dated about 1945 to 1967, are collection 4465 in the Southern Historical Collection at UNC, with material on the teaching of English in North Carolina and Frank Porter Graham (1886 to 1972).

A. C. Howell gave the Phi Beta Kappa initiation address to the Alpha Chapter of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on May 5, 1970. The chapter printed his remarks as a twenty page pamphlet.
