  2. Founding or opening · Chapel Hill and Carrboro Inter-Church Council forms

    Seven women’s organizing led to coordinated local poverty relief.

  4. Chapel Hill Ground is broken for the Adelaide Walters Apartments

    Community Housing Alternatives, an organization created by the Inter-Faith Council, broke ground in 1983 for the Adelaide Walters Apartments in Chapel Hill, two years after Walters died.

  5. Founding or opening · Carrboro IFC Commons opens in Carrboro

    The Inter-Faith Council for Social Service opened IFC Commons at 110 West Main Street in Carrboro, a $6 million building that put its community kitchen, food market and other non-shelter programs under one roof. Its virtual grand opening was held January 21, 2021.
