The Taylor log house is built near Carr
A single-pen log house divided into two unequal rooms on the hall-parlor plan, a layout also common in frame houses of the period.

The Carr Store is built on NC 49
A store is built at Carr on NC 49 early in the twentieth century; it was later enlarged and altered. Carr Store Road takes its name from the crossroads.

The county board builds the first room of Carr School for $300
Carr School in northwest Orange County, a gable-roofed weatherboarded schoolhouse, went up in 1908 with one room costing $300. The nomination names it among the few surviving frame schools the county built for Black children; it stands long vacant.

Carr Methodist Church was organized in 1913 and built a church in 1915.

Carr Methodist Church builds its Gothic Revival frame church
Two years after organizing, the Carr Methodist congregation builds a modest frame church with Gothic Revival touches on NC 49 at Carr.

The Orange County Red Cross grants a branch to Carr precinct
At its August 12, 1918 meeting the chapter granted Carr precinct's petition to become a branch, its fourth after Cedar Grove, New Hope and Oaks. The same meeting heard headquarters' advice to stop giving comfort kits to men leaving for camp.

Carr School gets its second classroom
The county board added a second room to Carr School in northwest Orange County, making it a two-room school twelve years after the first room was built.

Mount Adar holds its first service in a new auditorium
Plans to remodel, begun in October 1941, stalled when the builders in the area went to work at Camp Butner, and the program revived in 1946. During construction Mount Adar met for about eight months in Carr Methodist Church on alternate Sundays, then opened its new auditorium with two Sunday school rooms in May 1948.

Principal E. M. Stanfield reports on the one-room school for Black children at Cedar Grove
In her report for 1949-50, E. M. Stanfield told the state she was the only teacher for 36 pupils in seven grades in a single room with no library, gymnasium, fire protection or indoor toilet. The two-room Carr School nearby, under principal Anne May Morrow, had 73 pupils and lacked a drinking fountain and state health approval.

The county board sells off its remaining small schoolhouses
In March 1952 the board sold the last small school buildings, among them the Fairfield school for Black children, Sartin, Poplar Grove, Morris Grove and Hickory Grove, for prices from $300 to $2,010. Around the same time Carr School went to Jim Wade for $800.

Orange County builds its third ABC store near the Alamance line at Carr
The county ABC board put up a concrete-block liquor store on Mutt Byrd's land about 200 yards from the Alamance County line on the Roxboro-Burlington highway, with opening expected in mid-September. By early 1960 nearly all of its sales went to Alamance County customers.
