Supporting local figure
Osborne, an enslaved bricklayer and plasterer, was sent to Chapel Hill in February 1845 to begin the masonry on the additions to Old East and Old West at the university, and was still at work there in May 1846 when his brother Albert joined him. Dabney Cosby, who enslaved them, held the masonry subcontract.
