Sylvia Hatchell coached the University of North Carolina women's basketball team for 33 seasons, from 1986 to 2019, winning 751 games and the 1994 NCAA championship. She resigned in April 2019 after an outside review of the program reported racially insensitive remarks and concerns about her influence over players' injury decisions.
