Joel Carter

Joel Carter (1913–2000), a member of the University of North Carolina Music Department faculty, was musical director of the Chapel Hill Choral Club from 1949 to 1963. The club had been founded in 1921 under the Chapel Hill Community Club and came under the Music Department's leadership in the early 1930s.

Recording of the University of North Carolina Glee Club performing Carolina songs, credited to Joel Carter and made in 1957. The Southern Historical Collection issued a disc copy in 2001, whose insert misnames 'Carolina victory' as the Carolina fight song. Topics include students' songs at Chapel Hill and music at the university.
