Charles M. Andrews

Charles M. Andrews, a Chapel Hill native, ran the West End Drug Store on Nash Street in West Hillsboro from about 1908; its soda fountain served the mill village. In 1913 the Hillsboro Building and Loan Association was organized in the back of his store, and as its first secretary-treasurer he took members' payments at his drug counter. He moved to Burlington in 1926.

Johnson taught at the University of North Carolina, and the papers concern higher education and college teachers in the South, naming Charles McLean Andrews, R. D. W. Connor and William Whatley Pierson.
