The William Whitted House is built facing East Queen Street
A two-story frame house with a massive stone chimney is built about 1786 for William Whitted at East Queen and North Churton streets. A five-bay Italianate wing facing Churton Street was added later, possibly designed by Jules Korner of Kernersville.

Eliza Beaty keeps a boarding house in the William Whitted House
In the late nineteenth century Mrs. Eliza Beaty runs a well-known boarding house in the old William Whitted House at East Queen and North Churton streets. The Italianate wing facing Churton Street may have been added for her.

The William Whitted House becomes Hillsborough's American Legion post
In the 1940s the William Whitted House at 306 North Churton Street becomes the home of the local American Legion post. It has since become a private residence again.

James J. Freeland remodels the William Whitted House on East Queen Street
In the 1970s Freeland remodeled the William Whitted House, one of several historic Hillsborough buildings he restored or moved.
