    Methodists at Efland organized a church and built it the same year.

  3. Founding or opening · Occoneechee Street at West Margaret Lane, Hillsborough The Bivins brothers' tobacco basket factory is running in Hillsboro

    A Hillsboro report called the Bivins brothers' basket factory a new industry doing a thriving business. It wove the large baskets used in tobacco warehouses by machine, one of few such plants in the country.

  4. Construction or physical change · 112 North Hassell Street, Hillsborough The O. E. Bivins House, a Craftsman bungalow, is built on North Hassell Street

    The 2014 National Register documentation for the Hillsborough Historic District names the hip-roofed Craftsman bungalow at 112 North Hassell Street the O. E. Bivins House and dates it about 1922. O. E. Bivins was a Hillsboro manufacturer who ran the town's tobacco basket factory with his brothers.

  5. Disaster or outbreak · Durham-Greensboro highway (US 70), just east of Hillsborough Fire destroys the Bivins Basket Factory east of Hillsboro

    A fire of unknown cause razed the Bivins Basket Factory on the Durham-Greensboro highway just east of Hillsboro. The plant had been used mostly for storage, and its owners called it a total loss.

  7. Hillsborough O. E. Bivins builds the cabin at Hillsboro's new Girl Scout camp

    The new camp for Hillsboro's Girl Scout troops, at Occoneechee Farm behind the Harold Culbreth home south of town, had a cabin built for the girls and their leaders by O. E. Bivins. An open house and picnic supper were planned for the following Wednesday.
