Joseph (Joe) Hakan

Joe Hakan came to work for UNC as an engineering planner after Navy service and study at Duke, contributing to Manning Drive and the Morehead Sundial. He left the University in 1963 and founded the design firm Hakan/Corley, which designed the Smith Center. He died at his Chapel Hill home in March 2006, aged 80.
