  2. James Welch Patton becomes director of the Southern Historical Collection

    Chapel Hill

    Patton succeeded J. G. de Roulhac Hamilton as director of the Southern Historical Collection at the UNC library and taught a North Carolina history course each year while he held the post.

  3. J. Isaac Copeland directs the Southern Historical Collection

    Appointment, election or service · Wilson Library, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill

    Copeland served as chief of the UNC library's Manuscripts Department and director of the Southern Historical Collection from 1967 to 1975, between James Welch Patton and Carolyn A. Wallace, and taught history at UNC.
