Erin Sapienza

Erin Sapienza is director of the Orange County Public Library. After earning a master's degree in library science from UNC Greensboro in 2010, she joined Orange County as a branch manager in June 2013. She became community services librarian in 2015 and assistant director in 2020, and in that post led the planning work that brought the county to end overdue fines in November 2021. She was named director in July 2022.

  2. Orange County Public Library ends overdue fines Orange County commissioners approved a fine-free model for the county library, and overdue fines ended the next day. Library staff had found that fines fell hardest on residents facing economic hardship; charges for lost or damaged items continued.
