  2. Founding or opening · Alberta Cotton Mill, West End (now Carrboro) The state charters the Blanche Hosiery Mills Company at West End

    The secretary of state issued a charter to the Blanche Hosiery Mills Company, formed by W. R. Lloyd, T. J. Hogan, John Lloyd and W. E. Lindsay to make hosiery. The company began on $6,500 in stock, with leave to raise it to $15,000.

  3. Founding or opening · Chapel Hill A Christian Church congregation is organized in Chapel Hill

    The Christian Church congregation later called United Congregational Christian Church was organized in Chapel Hill and built its church in 1914.

  4. Founding or opening · Carrboro The Blanche Hosiery Mill Company is chartered again with $100,000 in authorized capital

    Four years after Julian Carr's company bought the first Blanche mill, W. E. Lindsay, Blanche Gilbert Lindsay and W. S. Robertson took out a new charter for the Blanche Hosiery Mill Company. By late April its new plant was finished, with 58 knitting machines and work for about 40 hands.
