Charlie Justice chooses Carolina and begins four seasons at Chapel Hill
Justice was one of the most sought after players in the country after playing for the Bainbridge Navy team, and he chose Chapel Hill over South Carolina and Duke. He played tailback for Carl Snavely from 1946 to 1949, gaining 170 yards on 17 carries against Virginia in his freshman season.

Charlie Justice receives UNC's Patterson Medal
UNC placed Justice in the 1950 class of Patterson Medal winners, the university's award for its leading athlete. He had been Walter Camp National Player of the Year in 1948 and Heisman Trophy runner-up in 1948 and 1949.

A Charlie Justice monument is dedicated at UNC's Kenan Football Center
A bronze sculpture of Justice in his number 22 uniform, 8 feet 6 inches tall, was dedicated at the west entrance of the Frank H. Kenan Football Center near the Sonja Haynes Stone Center. Private donations paid for it, and it was proposed by his teammate Joe Neikirk with Charlie Loudermilk and Hugh Morton.
