  2. Appointment, election or service · Chapel Hill Mike Fox is named UNC head baseball coach

    Athletic director Dick Baddour hired Fox, a former Tar Heel second baseman, as the 24th head coach in UNC baseball history. He came from 15 seasons at N.C. Wesleyan College and took over before the 1999 season.

  3. Chapel Hill Matt Doherty resigns as Carolina's men's basketball coach

    Doherty resigned after three seasons, following meetings that athletic director Dick Baddour and Dean of Students Melissa Exum held with his players after the season. Chancellor James Moeser said the issue was leadership, not wins and losses.

  4. Chapel Hill UNC announces John Bunting will not return as football coach

    Athletic director Dick Baddour told Bunting he would be relieved at the end of his sixth season, and the university announced he would not coach the Tar Heels in 2007. He coached the last five games.

  5. Chapel Hill Bubba Cunningham is named UNC's director of athletics

    Chancellor Holden Thorp introduced Lawrence R. (Bubba) Cunningham, athletics director at the University of Tulsa, at a press conference in the Dean E. Smith Center, and the trustees approved his six-year contract that morning. He took office on November 14, succeeding Dick Baddour as the seventh athletics director in UNC history.
