- Shearley Whatley buys 200 acres from the Earl Granville Whatley paid thirty pounds for the grant, the first known private ownership of the land where the farmhouse later called Webb's Happy Acres stands. The grant document passed down through the family owners.
- A two-story frame farmhouse is built on the land later called Webb's Happy Acres The one-room-deep house with a pegged frame, log sills and end chimneys may have been built by Carolina Kirkland and her husband or by earlier owners. Her grandson J. Richard Webb and his wife moved in about 1954, restored it and named it Webb's Happy Acres.
