Correspondence from Matthew Rowan, president of the North Carolina council and acting governor in the early 1750s, to the Lords Commissioners in London, reproduced by Adam Matthew Digital in 2019 from Colonial Office file CO 5/297, part 1. The letters touch on the assembly and legislation, the courts, gambling and public morals, exports and food supply, town affairs, fortifications, fire, the raising of the militia, Orange County and the Cape Fear River, in the years just after the county was formed.
