Edwin Mood Wilson's study of Nathaniel Macon's years in Congress, printed by the University Press at Chapel Hill in 1900. Macon served North Carolina in the House and Senate from the 1790s into the 1820s, in an account of state and national politics between 1775 and 1865. Kemp P. Battle and Willie P. Mangum also figure in the account.
Ninety-eight images of Governor William Hawkins's correspondence for May 1813. William Jones and Nathaniel Macon are among the names, and the letters range over elections, sheriffs, trials, clemency, boundaries and the militia. Hillsborough appears along with more than a dozen counties from Burke and Caswell to Perquimans and Wilkes.
