Pleasant Hunter Dalton

Pleasant Hunter Dalton (1821–1896) was a Presbyterian minister from Rockingham County who joined New Hope Church in 1842 while a student at Chapel Hill. Licensed by Orange Presbytery in 1847, he spent most of his career as a supply pastor and evangelist in the presbytery. He began supplying New Hope in August 1874 and was installed as its pastor in January 1884, but the session fell into disagreement and his pastorate ended in December 1886.

Dalton's pastorate at New Hope is dissolved amid a divided session Dalton offered his resignation in February 1886, but most of the congregation would not accept it; the relation was dissolved that December after the session fell into disagreement.
