Orange County Indexed
Every person named in the chronology’s entries, by surname, with a link to each entry that names them.
The chronology’s 16,421 dated events and 425 storylines name 10,876 people. 1,260 of them have a page of their own: their names link to it, and to the entries filed under them. Other names appear as written in the chronology, with links to the entries that name them.
For biographies and researched profiles, browse the people directory. For people enslaved in Orange County, search the names in the county’s records.
Each entry in the chronology lists the people it names. The index gathers those names. A name is linked to a person’s page only where the chronology has made that identification. Other names are listed as written in the entry, so “J. H. Hanner” and “John H. Hanner” are listed separately. Forms that may be the same person are marked “may be the same person as”. They are never merged, and people recorded by a single given name each have their own line.
Names that appear only in an entry’s description, and not in its list of people, are not indexed. To find those, search the chronology.
