  2. Orange County Matthew McCauley Jr. deeds five enslaved people to his mother, Martha McCauley

    By a deed of May 26, 1838, Matthew McCauley conveyed to Martha McCauley a man named Abram, a woman named Patsey, a girl named Sarah, a boy named Ben and an infant boy named Isaac, with a sorrel horse and a bay mare.

  3. Orange County Matthew McCauley Jr.'s assignee in bankruptcy sells his land and six enslaved people to John W. Carr

    After McCauley was declared bankrupt, his assignee conveyed to John W. Carr 450 acres then held by McCauley's mother, Martha McCauley, next to Ilai W. Nunn; 160 acres next to W. H. Merritt; and six enslaved people, Abram, Patsey, Ben, Sarah, Isaac and Charity.
