  2. UNC trustees name a new classroom building for William L. Saunders

    Chapel Hill

    The trustees named one of the new buildings Saunders Hall to honor Saunders as a Confederate veteran, a university trustee and a leader of the state Ku Klux Klan. It was built for the history department.

  4. Hugh Lefler and Paul Wager edit a bicentennial history of Orange County

    Publication, speech or performance · Chapel Hill

    For the county's 200th anniversary, Lefler and Wager edited Orange County, 1752-1952, with chapters by about fifteen contributors on early history, agriculture, industry, schools and more, plus a dictionary of county biography and lists of county officials.
