  2. Founding or opening · Orange and Alamance counties The Eno-Occaneechi Indian Association forms

    Descendants of the Occaneechi, Saponi and related Siouan peoples living around the Little Texas settlement reorganized in 1984 as the Eno-Occaneechi Indian Association, with the aim of winning state recognition. The group has since been governed by an elected nine-member tribal council headed by a chair.

  3. Property or economic transaction · Little Texas community, Alamance County Occaneechi Band pays off its land and moves the tribal office to the homeland site

    The band paid its land mortgage in full and relocated its tribal office to the Homeland Preservation Project site in Alamance County.
