  2. Founding or opening · West Rosemary Street, Chapel Hill-Carrboro line Stephen J. Edwards's Midway Barber Shop is open on West Rosemary Street

    Edwards's Midway Barber Shop was advertising on West Rosemary Street, at the Chapel Hill and Carrboro line, by late 1952. His son Stepney Edwards later ran the Black-owned shop.

  3. Appointment, election or service · Lincoln High School, Chapel Hill Hilliard Caldwell leads the Chapel Hill chapter of the New Farmers of America

    The Lincoln High School paper reported a prosperous 1954 to 1955 year for the chapter under Caldwell, its president, and printed his own account of the chapter's work.
