  2. Construction or physical change · Paul Green tract between the Durham and Raleigh roads, later Greenwood Road, Chapel Hill Paul Green finishes a small writing retreat on his land east of Chapel Hill

    Playwright Paul Green finishes a small building for study and writing on the tract he had bought about two years earlier beyond the Strowd farm, between the Durham and Raleigh roads. He meant to build a family house near it later.

  3. Construction or physical change · Paul Green tract between the Durham and Raleigh roads, later 610 Greenwood Road, Chapel Hill Paul and Elizabeth Green sell their village home and lay out a new house east of town

    Paul and Elizabeth Green sell their home in the Glen to Mr. and Mrs. J. Manson Valentine and, with advice from a landscape architect, site a family house, gardens and outbuildings on their tract east of the village, hoping to move in by September.

  4. Construction or physical change · 707 Greenwood Road, Chapel Hill Illustrator William Meade Prince and his wife Lillian build a house in Greenwood

    William Meade Prince, the illustrator who taught art at the university, and his wife Lillian were building a home in the Greenwood neighborhood at the end of 1941. He lived and worked there until his death in 1951.

  6. Life event · 707 Greenwood Road, Chapel Hill William Meade Prince dies at his home in Greenwood

    William Meade Prince, illustrator, former head of the university's art department and author of The Southern Part of Heaven, died by suicide in the studio of his Greenwood home. The Weekly wrote that the village felt the loss deeply.
