  2. Founding or opening · Chapel Hill L. J. Phipps and Stanley Peele form a law partnership in Chapel Hill

    Chapel Hill attorney L. J. Phipps took Stanley Peele, associated with him since he was admitted to the bar in 1959, into partnership.

  4. Appointment, election or service · Orange County Judge Stanley Peele wins the Democratic primary for his district court seat

    Incumbent district judge Stanley Peele of Chapel Hill won the primary with 13,390 votes to 5,445 for Chapel Hill attorney Charles Hodson and 2,171 for Gerid Cumby of Alamance.

  5. Law, policy or court · Carrboro Chief District Judge Peele halts Carrboro fire-lane towing

    In a class-action suit by four Carrboro residents, three of them UNC students, Chief District Court Judge Stanley Peele issued a temporary restraining order barring the town from enforcing its ordinance allowing cars to be towed from marked fire lanes on private property.

  6. Law, policy or court · Chapel Hill Plans are announced for a Chapel Hill branch of the Orange County court clerk's office

    Clerk of Superior Court Frank Frederick and Chief District Court Judge Stanley Peele announced plans for a Chapel Hill branch of the clerk's office, to open in January and handle traffic tickets and other misdemeanors docketed for district court in Chapel Hill.

  7. Law, policy or court · Orange County Judge Peele rules in the Hanes Hall CIA protest cases

    Judge Stanley Peele found anti-CIA protesters Dale McKinley and Graham Entwistle guilty of disorderly conduct for chaining themselves at Hanes Hall during CIA recruiting interviews and entered a prayer for judgment continued; later in 1988 he jailed McKinley for 21 days and gave Entwistle a suspended sentence for violating its terms.
