Dear Friends,
Our June board meeting was a great success! We discussed hosting an event for National Novel Writing Month (“NaNoRiMo”), which takes place each November. We decided on a Write-In, where writers can have a full day to engage in their craft in the quiet and comfort of the library’s meeting room. Plans are still in the works, but we’re thinking coffee and pastries to get everyone’s creative juices flowing, with possible prizes for productivity throughout the day. The event will be held on Saturday, November 4th, so mark your calendars now and spread the word to any aspiring authors you might know!
We added two new members to the board – “Tess” Tessier and Jennifer Tolliver. It’s nice to see the organization grow! You can learn more about them and the other board members at the Friends’ Website. Although Samantha Dunaway Bryant resigned from the board, it was for a happy reason. She’s a published author and her work life has become more demanding, which is a great problem for an author to have. We wish Samantha all the best and thank her for her many years of service, including several as secretary.
We still have room for a few more board members if you’re interested. Just send a bio and photo to focplnc@gmail.com. General members are always welcome to attend board meetings, too. We appreciate feedback and input from all of you.
There will be no Friends meeting in July, but we’ll be back to business in August as we begin preparations for the September book sale. The book sale will run from Friday, September 15th through Sunday, September 17th, with a Friends Members-Only night on Thursday, September 14th.
