Next Meeting
Because July is a popular time for summer vacations, we’re skipping a meeting this month. But we’ll be back on August 15th at 7:00 for our next board meeting. All members are welcome to attend! We’d love to see you there. Come see what we’re up to and consider joining us! Serving on the board is a minimal time commitment. Upcoming Book Sale
Mark your calendars for our upcoming book sale, which will be held on Friday, September 13th through Sunday, September 15th. Friends members can shop early at the exclusive members-only night on Thursday, September 12th. Get first shot at some great books!
Book Donations
Speaking of the book sale, we want your book donations! If you have some gently used books you’d like to donate, you can drop them off at the front desk during library hours. If you have a large donation, please email us at FOCPLNC@gmail.com in advance to arrange for a Friends member to assist with the donation. Thanks!
Book Sorters Needed
Looking for a volunteer opportunity? We can use people to help sort donated books. This flexible task that can be done on your schedule and, even if you have only a small amount of time to volunteer, you will still be a big help. If you’re interested, please contact our fabulous Book Sale Chairperson Diane Decker directly.

Due to staffing cuts at Parks & Rec, installation of the story trail has been delayed, but we are looking into other possible options for installing the stations and will update you as soon as further information is available.

A Conversation With Crime Writers
S.A. Cosby And Eryk Pruitt
Join the Friends of the Orange County Public Library on Friday, October 4th at 7:00 pm for a Conversation with crime writers S.A. Cosby and Eryk Pruitt.
S.A. Cosby is the New York Times bestselling author of Razorblade Tears, Blacktop Wasteland, All the Sinners Bleed, and The Rhythm of Time, a children’s book co-written with Questlove. His books have won the Los Angeles Times Book Prize, the Anthony Award, International Thriller Writers Best Hardcover Novel, a Macavity Award for Best Mystery Novel, the Crime Writers’ Association’s Silver Dagger and Gold Dagger awards, and were named Library Journal’s and NPR’s Best Book of the Year, among many other awards and accolades. Cosby has appeared on The Daily Show and The Tonight Show Featuring Jimmy Fallon, and lives in Southeastern Virginia. When not writing, he is an avid hiker and chess player.
Eryk Pruitt, known for his devilishly dark sense of humor, is a master of many storytelling mediums. He has brought his stories to life as a filmmaker, podcaster, short story writer, and novelist. He is also the publisher of Dark Yonder, a quarterly literary magazine. His books include Townies, Hashtag, Dirtbags, and What We Reckon, along with books in his Jess Keeler thriller series – Something Bad Wrong and Blood Red Summer. His work has also appeared in a number of anthologies. When not writing, you can find him at Yonder, a bar and entertainment venue he operates in Hillsborough.

National Novel Writing Month Events
Are you a writer or aspiring writer? Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 2nd and Saturday, November 9th, when the Friends will host write-in sessions for National Novel Writing Month (“NaNoWriMo”).
On Saturday, November 9th, we’ll also host a horror writer panel in the afternoon. Get some great tips from the area’s best horror writers. More details to come!
