Research Across Collections

Every result links to the institution that describes, holds, or provides the item. Some materials can be viewed online; others may be available from a library, through interlibrary loan, or by contacting the holding archive.

• ✓ At OCPL: Opens the item in the OCPL catalog. Check the catalog for current availability.
• Library badge: Opens the item’s record in the named library’s catalog.
• ◆ On-site use: When the diamond follows a library name, at least one copy is held in special collections or otherwise limited to use inside that library.
• View at the source repository: Opens a digitized primary source at DigitalNC, the North Carolina Digital Collections, or a university digital collection.
• Library of Congress: Opens the record in the national catalog; LC copies are consulted on site, so look for the same title at a library nearer you.
• UNC finding aids: Opens the collection guide at Wilson Library; the papers are consulted in the reading room.
• State Archives of NC: Opens the collection’s finding aid, or the Archives’ catalog listing for a series; the materials are consulted in the Raleigh search room.
• DOI link: Opens a research article or dataset at its publisher or repository; some articles need a subscription or a library login.
• Read with NC LIVE: Provides online access through a participating North Carolina library.
• Read online: Opens a full-view digital copy at HathiTrust or the Internet Archive.
• Borrow online: Opens a time-limited Internet Archive loan; a free account may be required.
• WorldCat: Shows the item’s broader library record and other possible holdings.

Many circulating books held elsewhere may be eligible for interlibrary loan through OCPL.
