    Black Mountain College, the experimental school near Asheville that ran from 1933 to 1957, as Martin Duberman reconstructed it from interviews. He follows teachers and students such as Josef and Anni Albers, John Cage, Merce Cunningham, Charles Olson and Robert Creeley through the college's repeated reinventions and quarrels and the money troubles that dogged it to the end.
