Lionel Dane Melvin, born 1907, left papers covering 1929 and then 1941 to 1976. The papers concern his work as a botanist and horticulturist, including interests in North Carolina geology and in plant conservation through the North Carolina Wild Flower Preservation Society, with Frank Porter Graham, H. R. Totten of the university's Department of Botany, and Immanuel Velikovsky. Part of the Southern Historical Collection at UNC, collection 4076.
