North Carolina. Provincial Congress (Hillsborough, N.C.) · 1775

Five-dollar bill of credit issued on 21 August 1775 by the North Carolina Provincial Congress sitting at Hillsborough. William Tisdale engraved the plates, with a vignette of Tryon Palace in the lower left and four signatures at lower right. The note promised five Spanish milled dollars or their value in gold or silver. It measures 106 by 74 mm.
